    Shiratoriyama walking path

There is a walking path on Shiratoriyama, a small hill behind the forest museum, where you can observe trees and plants in nature. The northern slope of the hill is covered by a natural forest, where you can see naturally regenerated native deciduous broadleaves, such as Betula maximowicziana, Quercus crispula, and Kalopanax septemlobus. The western slope is covered by a plantation of introduced species, such as Japanese larch (Larix kaempferi), Norway spruce (Picea abies), and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). You can see a variety of flowering trees, such as flowering cherry (Cerasus sargentii var. sargentii) on the southern slope of the hill.
